BENCHMARKS’ workshops and what you need to know

Benchmarks always has something coming up! What do we do at the workshops? Are they open to the public? Below, you can find all the answers

BENCHMARKS is a collaborative project that engages with scientist 👩‍🔬, politicians 👨‍💼 and other professionals 👩‍🌾 all over Europe. You can observe this in our multi-stakeholder workshops, where diverse actors collaborate to achieve a common goal. This also allows diverse and unrepresented stakeholders to engage in decision-making processes regarding soil health challenges.

The workshops have a collaborative approach and welcomes people to talk and debate, but also to see soil 🍃 assessments with their own eyes and check the actual state of it, giving the soil health issues a more visual impact on the attendee.

Why multi-stakeholders workshops are important and which purposes do they have?

We state that soils are vital to society and are characterized by the diversity of users and uses. Because of that, we aim for a collaborative 🤝 approach representing different sectors that can provide a new perspective and understanding of soil challenges on all Europe. Different stakeholders (landowners, politicians, citizens, scientist, etc.) can share different information, allowing them to share their insights, values and concerns in different scales: regional, national or European.

Putting stakeholders and land stewards into the center while enabling participatory decision-making processes results in a bottom-up approach and encourages transdisciplinary cooperation.

The purposes of these workshops are diverse. Not only does BENCHMARKS aim to represent diverse needs and wants to empower unrepresented groups, but also aims to enable partnerships and strengthen relationships thought transparency and mutual respect 🙌. Furthermore, BENCHMARKS wants to boost stalled processes regarding soil health and create long-term outcomes that can persist past the end of the project. Finally, BENCHMARKS wants to co-create the ISHMF: Integrated Soil Health Monitoring Framework. This considers different aspects of indicators for soil health 🔬.

How can I know about the latest workshops?

BENCHMARKS has different communication channels, so you can choose from various sources of information: Instagram, Linkedin, X or our website. The latter always will have more in-depth details, so make sure to check it if a workshop catches your attention!
