The Zöbelboden Case Study
The Austrian ICP Integrated Monitoring site has a size of 90 ha and is situated in the northern part of the national park Northern Limestone Alps”(N 47°50′30″, E 14°26′30″) (www.umweltbundesamt.at/im). The main rock type is dolomite. The study area is divided in a steep slope with typical montane mixed forests and Leptosols and a flat plateau with spruce plantation and Cambisols. The long-term average annual temperature is 7.2°C and the annual rainfall ranges from 1,500 to 1,800 mm.
Objectives
- The goal of long-term monitoring is to determine the status and effects of air pollutant loads and climate change on mountain forest ecosystems and to predict their future development.
