At the European level, BENCHMARKS contributes to developing an Integrated Soil Health Monitoring Framework, in collaboration with EU institutions.

Focus areas:

  • Understand users’ needs and motivations for monitoring and propose soil health indicators that need to be monitored across three land uses (agricultural, urban, forestry)
  • Identify EU policy needs and support the implementation of soil-relevant policies through monitoring and reporting
  • Provide evidence for policy making on soils

Supporting trade-related monitoring


Aligning with global frameworks (e.g. IPBES, EU Sustainability Standards, Rainforest Alliance, 4C, etc.)
